Laser Dentistry
Most of what children fear at the dentist — the shot, the drill, the numb cheek afterward — is optional here. The Solea laser has been quietly retiring all three since 2015.
Dentistry without the drill.
Almost everything uncomfortable about a dental visit comes down to three things: heat, pressure, and vibration. A dental laser removes all three.
In their place, a precise beam of light does the work — quietly, and often with minimal to no sensation at all. For a nervous child, that changes the entire experience: no whirring drill, very often no shot, and no lingering numbness to carry back to school. We confirm your child is a candidate first, then let the light do the rest.
The laser we built our reputation on.
Solea is the first CO2 dental laser cleared by the FDA for hard-, soft-, and bone-tissue procedures. Developed in Boston by Convergent Dental from research at the University of California School of Dentistry, it pairs a unique wavelength with computer guidance to deliver virtually painless care for both teeth and gums — from simple cavities to more complex work.
We brought Solea to our practice in 2015, and it has shaped how we treat children ever since. The result feels so easy that it's hard to believe you were just at a dental appointment.
What a beam of light makes possible.
Anesthesia-free, virtually blood-free care is a genuine leap forward — gentler during the visit, and easier after it.
Often, no shot
The majority of hard- and soft-tissue procedures in our office are done with virtually no anesthesia — no needle going in, and no numb cheek on the way out. Your child heads straight back to lunch or school.
Virtually no bleeding
Soft-tissue work is nearly blood-free, and the laser helps stop bleeding as it goes — gauze is often unnecessary.
More done in one visit
Because the care is so gentle, we can treat multiple areas in a single appointment — what once took several visits often takes one.
Precision that spares
The beam is incredibly thin, so we treat exactly what needs treating while the surrounding tissue stays un-irritated — more comfort now, faster recovery after.
A laser visit, start to finish.
Quick and quiet — here's how a Solea appointment unfolds for your child.
-
We confirm it's a fit
First, an exam — we make sure your child is a candidate and explain the plan in plain, friendly words, so nothing comes as a surprise.
-
Your child settles in
For many treatments there's no numbing shot at all. Your child simply gets comfortable while we set up.
-
The light does the work
The laser works quietly and precisely — none of the heat, pressure, or vibration children dread. Most treatments take only a short while.
-
Back to the day
No lingering numbness and quick healing mean your child usually walks out ready for lunch, school, or whatever comes next.

Laser questions, answered.
For most children, there's minimal to no sensation. The laser removes the heat, pressure, and vibration that usually cause discomfort, and the majority of our hard- and soft-tissue procedures are done with virtually no anesthesia. Solea's unique wavelength makes care for teeth and gums virtually painless.
Very often, no. Most procedures here are done with virtually no anesthesia — which means no shot and no numb feeling afterward, so your child can go right back to their day. We'll always confirm what's gentlest for your child's specific treatment.
Solea is FDA-cleared for hard-, soft-, and bone-tissue procedures. We use it for treatments like fillings and crowns as well as various soft-tissue work — and because it's so gentle, we can often care for multiple areas in a single appointment. Candidacy is confirmed first, every time.
Yes. Soft-tissue procedures are done with virtually no bleeding, and the laser actually helps stop bleeding as it works — gauze may not even be needed. Because the beam is so thin, surrounding tissue isn't irritated, which means more comfort and a faster recovery.
Perfectly. The laser treats exactly what needs treating and leaves everything around it untouched — one of the central tools in our minimally invasive approach, keeping visits calm and recovery quick.
