What It Is

Made for smiles that are still growing.

Cosmetic dentistry for children and teens means improving how a smile looks while preserving as much natural tooth structure as possible for healthy development. It isn't adult cosmetic work scaled down — every option is chosen for your child's age and stage of growth.

It starts with a relaxed consultation: we examine your child's teeth, take any necessary X-rays, and talk through the options together. From there, we build an individualized plan around exactly what you and your child would like to improve.

When It Helps

More than looks.

A few common things can keep a child from loving their smile — and several of them make speaking, eating, or chewing harder, too. Cosmetic care restores both the look and the function.

Decay

Cavities and decay can be treated and restored so the smile stays healthy, whole, and uniform.

Chips & cracks

The tumbles of an active childhood happen. A chipped or cracked tooth is a straightforward repair.

White spots & discoloration

Chalky white spots and uneven color can often be smoothed into a brighter, more even shine.

Shape & gaps

Misshapen teeth — or the gap left by a missing one — can be aligned, brightened, or restored as needed.

Why It Matters

What a confident smile does.

The most visible benefit is the smile itself. The quieter benefits last longer.

01

Confidence

A smile a child is proud of lifts self-esteem and wellbeing — at an age when both are still being built.

02

Function

Repairing damage and restoring shape makes speaking, eating, and chewing easier — the smile works as well as it looks.

03

Protection

Cosmetic care helps guard enamel from further deterioration and protects the gums and bone beneath.

04

Prevention

Treating small problems early reduces pain and discomfort down the road — and keeps them from becoming big problems.

What to Expect

How a smile consult works.

No pressure and no surprises — just an unhurried conversation and a plan made for one particular child.

  1. We take a look

A gentle exam of your child's teeth, and an honest conversation about what you'd both like to improve.

  2. Any X-rays needed

If we need to see beneath the surface, we take any necessary X-rays before recommending anything.

  3. Options, weighed honestly

We walk through the tooth-preserving choices together, with plain-spoken pros and cons for each.

  4. A plan sized to your child

The final plan fits your child's smile, age, and stage of growth — nothing more than what's truly needed.

General and cosmetic care, in one familiar place

Children are often referred to a cosmetic dentist by their primary dentist. Here, there's no hand-off: Dr. Linh Tsai is a board-certified pediatric dentist specially trained to perform both general and cosmetic procedures on children and adolescents — so your child's care stays with the team they already trust.

Common Questions

Cosmetic questions, answered.

No. The most visible benefit is an improved appearance — and the confidence that follows — but cosmetic care also protects dental health: it reduces future pain and discomfort, guards enamel, gums, and the bone beneath, and restores how the teeth actually work.

Our goal is the opposite — preserving as much natural tooth as possible for healthy development. Many of our options, like Icon infiltration, silver diamine fluoride, and the Solea laser, are minimally invasive by design.

Comfort leads every visit. The Solea laser replaces the drill in the majority of our procedures, and treatments like Icon and SDF involve no shots and no drilling. If your child is nervous, we'll plan the gentlest path through together.

We examine your child's teeth, take any necessary X-rays, and discuss the options with you — then build an individualized plan tailored to your child's smile, age, and stage of growth. There's no pressure at any point.

Look at qualifications and training — members of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), for example, receive education on the latest techniques — and read independent patient reviews. We're always glad to answer questions about our own training and approach.
